There are questions after big-hitting Rinku Singh’s was left out of the starting Indian team for the next T20 World Cup in the Americas. After last year’s Indian Premier League, Rinku became a breakout sensation and went on to have incredible runs at bat when selected for the national squad. Rinku amassed 356 runs in 15 Internationals at an incredible average of 176.23, going undefeated in 11 innings.
In the touring party, Rinku was designated as a reserve along with Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan, suggesting that the selectors had chosen to go with different options depending on current form and performance. The same is true, according to former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, who blamed Rinku’s elimination on the left-handed batter’s poor performance in the current IPL.
